Today I want to talk about the emotions of being a buyer or a seller. One of the things that you should value in a realtor is having someone honest on your side. I’m not that kind of girl that will tell you want you WANT to hear and disillusion you later, I keep it real.
If you’ve been thinking about moving out of your home (and you’d be surprised about how many people after being cooped up in their home all winter are ready to move) I want to prepare you for the process.
First of all, as a first time home buyer specifically, you might be really scared and overwhelmed about what you are about to experience. I’m here to tell you that it’s not near as bad as you think. The first step to take is make a pre approval call to your lender. You think the payments are going to be so expensive and that you’ll never be able to afford it and you have savings you are not ready to part with. People are scared of what they don’t know. It’s not as bad as you think.
If you are a move up buyer, you own your own home and may have anxiety about prepping your home to sell. It’s not as bad as you think. Especially in today’s seller’s market. You may think, “Doesn’t my garage have to be organized? Do I have to paint all my rooms?” You have to have your home clean, decluttered, and well-maintained. The preparation is never as anxiety filled as you make it out to be.
You might think, “Do I deserve this? Is this the right time?” At this point, you need to check in with your spouse (if you have one) to make sure you are both on the same page and have the same life goals. I have seen people go through borderline divorce because they didn’t have the same financial goals. Take the time to go through the emotions or counseling that needs to happen to keep everyone on the same page.
It is never what you think it’s going to be. Make sure you choose the right realtor for you, who will care for you in the process, who is experienced, and who is trust worthy. When you trust your realtor, this process will be simple and less anxiety filled.
