A question that I get a lot is, “What made you choose RE/MAX? Why did you want to open your own brokerage?”
I believe that you are the sum of the people that you surround yourself with. It was important to me to be purpose-filled about who I surround myself with and how I make those choices. The way that you can very carefully make those choices is to open up your own business or brokerage. I had my choice of a lot of different franchises that were very ready and able to accept my money and open up a branch for them. In evaluating the different companies I realized that RE/MAX actually sells the most homes in the world.
There’s a solid reason for that —- without getting too complicated or giving away RE/MAX secrets, I’ll just say the financial model of what I’m paying in to RE/MAX makes it unattractive to ever hire a part time agent or someone who is not seriously committed to doing a lot of business. In my 40-some years, I have learned that experience pays, and experience is amazing, unparalleled, hard to match — and RE/MAX has that in so many ways.
They’ve been around for 4 decades, have one of the highest quantities of agents, they sell the most per agent, because the brokerages financially would never want to hire a “schumch!” I’ve said it before, there are several agents who are selling home as a hobby, and in my opinion, when you are dealing with the highest investment a customer will make, you need to be experienced and in the business for people to trust you with that investment. RE/MAX seemed like a very natural fit because it allowed me to surround myself with some great folks.
So why I decided to open my own brokerage once I decided to go with RE/MAX, it’s really because I want to walk into the office and smile at who I see. When I have a great attitude, when I’m thrilled and happy about what I’m doing, I serve people better and so do the people around me and we all lift each other up.
