Today I want to talk to you about preparing your home to get it SOLD. It’s an exciting time, the first thing that you need to do in this journey, is call a realtor. Or even two or three, for that matter, to get various opinions.
I have seen people do insane levels of repairs and investments in their home, sometimes thousands of dollars worth, that didn’t need to be done. That’s always hard to watch. It’s important that before you spend anything on your home….call your favorite realtors, get their advice, find out where you’re going to get the most bang for your buck.
The second thing that you need to do is paint. I can tell you that if you have a question about whether or not a room needs to be painted…it does! And it needs to be fairly neutral. No bright greens, no hot pinks. Grey is the “in” color right now, but if you’d like other choices, feel free to reach out to me and ask.
The next thing that you need to do is declutter, less is more! Get rid of all that stuff, put it on Craig’s List — make a little extra money in this process. Declutter, declutter, declutter.
Lastly, make sure your home is odor free. It can not smell like pets, it can not smell like smoke. Do what you have to do to make sure that your home smells like nothing. It shouldn’t smell like vanilla, shouldn’t smell like lemon scent or ginger — just odor free.
If you want to get top dollar, here’s a quote to commit to:
“If it’s important to you, you’ll make time. If not, you’ll make an excuse.” – Jim Rohn
