Today I want to talk to you about how to choose the right realtor. Choosing someone to help you through this journey, one of the biggest decisions of your life, is important. Make sure you’re choosing wisely.
The first thing that you need to do as you’re interviewing 2 or 3 realtors, is make sure they’ve come prepared. Have they brought you a solid plan on what they’re going to do to get your home sold? Did they leave it for you, in writing? Have they educated you on other relevant properties that have sold in the area, and provided detailed reports about them, so that you can make a wise decision on how to price position your home in the market place? You deserve someone who is so committed to you, who provides you with numerous resources to guide you through this process.
The second thing that you need to consider as you’re choosing you’re realtor is, do they know market conditions? Are they aware of how many homes are actively listed in the metropolitan area? Are they aware of the best months to sell a home? Are they aware of the pros and cons of the various markets — whether you’re a luxury seller or a first time home buyer? Make sure they’ve really educated you on those matters.
Third, ask yourself: Do you feel comfortable around them? This can not be over rated. Again, this is a stressful time for you. And you need to NOT feel like you’re just some number. Buying a home is a big deal, you’re making one of the most significant purchases of your life, and you should feel like your realtor really cares about you, YOUR interests.
Here’s a quote to commit to:
“You’re the sum of your closest five.” – John C. Maxwell
I have found that to be so true. I really take my time getting to know people, and make sure that I’m surrounding myself with the best, and I hope you do too.
As always, my prayer for you is that today you’ll take that first step and then the next, towards living the life that you deserve.
